OCMS is driven by a mission to contribute to the development of chamber music; to engage audiences young and old; to sustain devotees of the art form; to support the livelihoods of professional artists; and to enrich the artistic programming of Canada’s National Capital Region.
The mandate of Ottawa Chamber Music Society (OCMS) is to make classical music accessible to everyone. Through artistic expression and audience engagement, Ottawa Chamber Music Society creates experiences that challenge and stimulate listeners while offering time for reflection and regeneration.
We bring together top Canadian and international artists, in all stages of their careers, to present concerts that draw local, national and international audiences.
Our activities help to make Ottawa a great cultural destination and contribute significantly to the economy of the National Capital Region. These activities include the annual Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival (Ottawa Chamberfest), a year-round concert series, arts education and outreach programs, and other innovative community programming partnerships.
We strive to be an international leader in the presentation of chamber music with deep roots in our national and local communities. Ottawa Chamberfest has become a world destination for chamber music lovers.
Through innovative programming, arts education and outreach programs we aim to deepen the experiences of audiences, reach a broader range of music lovers and appeal to a more diverse public from all ages and cultures.
It is also our goal to make Ottawa and the National Capital Region an international destination for artists and audiences, a gathering place for both emerging and established classical musicians.
