Here are just some of Ottawa’s arts and community groups and artists contributing to and benefitting from this unique event.

Blackburn Chorus

The Blackburn Chorus is a seventy-five voice mixed choir which performs two to three concerts per season. The choir also perform for special events such as conferences, luncheons, banquets and sing-outs at seniors' residences and hospitals.

CARIBE-EXPO (Ottawa Caribbean Festival)

The CARIBE-EXPO highlights the richness and diversity of the Caribbean Community, showcasing music, dance, arts and crafts, fashion and food from the Caribbean Nations.

La Favoritte Early Music

Ottawa’s own baroque ensemble, La Favoritte made its international debut in 2003 at Boston’s Early Music Festival. ‘La Fav’ has aired on CBC TV and also been featured on CBC radio Two with Musica Divina in a performance at the National Gallery of Canada. www.lafavoritte.com.

Glebe Collegiate

Glebe Collegiate, Ottawa’s second oldest high school, boasts an excellent arts program. Its many choirs and bands, including the very popular percussive group, OFFBEAT, have performed venues in Toronto, Montreal, and New York City.

Gloucester Spoken Art

Committed to the discovery and cultivation of new voices, Gloucester Spoken Art nurtures the preservation of the spoken word in the form of poetry, storytelling, and song-writing in the East End of Ottawa.

GOYA Theatre Productions Inc.

GOYA : Giving Opportunities to Young Artists. Ottawa's only community-based theatre company dedicated to producing exclusively Canadian plays and musicals.

Le Groupe Dance Lab

Le Groupe Dance Lab fosters new dance research and development, embracing seasoned and emerging artists willing to dive into the creative process.Through risk and innovation, choreographers push the boundaries of the art form in an environment of high artistic veracity.

International Folk Dancers of Ottawa

Established in the early 1970s, the International Folk Dancers of Ottawa is a non-profit group for the support and preservation of recreational folk dancing in the Ottawa-Hull area.

Kanata Choral Society

Now in its 19th season, the 40-plus member Kanata Choral Society choir gives three major performances each year, with a variety of choral repertoire from early music to contemporary works, including works by Canadian composers.

Kanata Theatre

Kanata Theatre stages five main productions each year plus a children's play at the Christmas season. Membership is drawn from the surrounding communities. Members take part in workshops, work on productions, playreadings, and other activities.

Mapalé

Mapalé Artes y Letras promotes art, literature and culture in a new Spanish-language publication featuring artists from Canada, Latin-America, Spain and around the world.

Odyssey Theatre Group

Since 1986, Odyssey has been bringing unique mask work and the arts of the fairground - clown, bouffon, puppetry, dance and pageantry - to their summer outdoor main stage, creating magical worlds that have delighted audiences and inspired rave reviews. Artists from all over the world are drawn to their new play development, artist training, performance labs, workshops and many other programs.

Opera Lyra Ottawa

Opera Lyra Ottawa has been producing and presenting opera of the highest calibre for over 20 years, presenting two full scale productions each year in Southam Hall of the National Arts Centre. Through innovative outreach and education programmes, Opera Lyra makes opera accessible to the community while encouraging and promoting Canadian artists and opera as an art form.

Ottawa Chamber Orchestra

The Ottawa Chamber Orchestra (OCO) is a dynamic “chamber-sized” symphony orchestra whose members include advanced music students, semi-professional musicians, and serious amateurs who share love of music, a desire to learn together, and a passion for delighting audiences. Their Maestro, David Thies-Thompson, is a violinist with the National Arts Centre Orchestra and member of Thirteen Strings.

Ottawa Choral Society

The Ottawa Choral Society has been at the center of cultural life in the Nation’s capital for more than six decades. The Ottawa Choral Society appears regularly at the National Arts Centre with the city’s orchestras, in addition to an annual concert series.

Ottawa International Animation Festival

Founded in 1975 by the Canadian Film Institute, the Ottawa International Animation Festival is a vibrant meeting place for the world’s animators. OIAF is the only competitive international film festival in Ottawa, and the largest animation festival in North America

Ottawa International Jazz Festival

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the festival highlighting some of the most talented jazz musicians from around the world. www.ottawajazzfestival.com

Ottawa School of Art

The Ottawa School of Art offers Diploma and Certificate Programs, as well as community level art courses in drawing, painting, photography, new media, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, plus short courses and workshops. Celebrate our 125th year!

Ottawa Symphony Orchestra (OSO)

The Ottawa Symphony Orchestra (OSO) is made up of professional, student and amateur musicians, offering talented graduates from the University of Ottawa music programme opportunities to play in a professional setting, mentored by professional musicians. Founded in 1965, the orchestra provides five exciting programmes of large-scale symphonic music in Southam Hall at the National Arts Centre each year.

Ottawa Welsh Choral Society

The Ottawa Welsh Choral Society is a mixed voice choir whose repertoire includes traditional and contemporary music from Wales, the Land of Song; from Canada; and from around the world. They perform a Christmas and a spring concert each year, participates in functions of the Ottawa Welsh Society, and visit seniors’ homes or long-term care facilities.

Ottawa Youth Orchestra Academy (OYOA)

The Ottawa Youth Orchestra Academy (OYOA) provides youth in the Ottawa region with high-quality orchestra and ensemble training and performance opportunities at an affordable cost in a supportive environment, inspiring, encouraging and challenging students to build their musical skills and talents.

Parkdale United Church Orchestra

The Parkdale United Church Orchestra began in 1945 as a small ensemble to play monthly in church services. Today, in its 60th season, it has become a full orchestra performing three public concerts annually with over 60 members.

Phoenix Players

Phoenix Players is a repertory theatre group of experienced amateur theatre people whose aim is to produce affordable, high quality theatre entertainment. Company members work behind the scenes when not acting in a production, and gather weekly to read plays together between productions. Always welcoming new members, they produce comedies, mysteries, and dramas from the Canadian, American and English repertory.

Salamander Theatre for Young Audiences

Salamander Theatre for Young Audiences is the national capital region's popular touring resource for theatre and arts-in-education, presenting professional performances at schools, festivals and communities, and providing valuable arts resources to teachers.

Sinfonia Ottawa

Sinfonia Ottawa is a small string or chamber orchestra whose main activity is the presentation of a concert during August when most other orchestras are inactive. The orchestra has given Canadian premieres of several American, Australian, and Canadian works.

Strings of St. John’s Chamber Orchestra

The Strings of St. John’s Chamber Orchestra strives for excellence in the performance of a broad repertoire of classical and modern music with first-rate professional musicians as guest soloists, or in performance with established Ottawa choral groups.

Suzart Productions

Suzart Productions is a non-profit theatre company specializing in affordable musical theatre for the entire family. Suzart Productions also provides opportunities to experience and enjoy live theatre both acting and backstage.

Suzuki Music

SuzukiMusic teaches violin, viola, cello and flute to more than 200 students, ranging from 2 to 17 years of age. Their recitals, concerts and multimedia shows have introduced thousands of schoolchildren to classical music and the history of their community.

Third Wall Theatre Co.

Third Wall Theatre Co. presents the well-known stories of the world repertory, shaped by imagination and told without pretension. They strive to produce a wide variety of plays, from ancient comedies to modern classics.

Thirteen Strings

Thirteen Strings is dedicated to the performance of string ensemble music from baroque to contemporary, the 15th to the 21st century. Through numerous CBC broadcasts, Thirteen Strings has become known nationally as one of Canada’s premiere chamber orchestras.
