Stars align for Opening Gala at the Festival

 
Ottawa (Tuesday, June 20, 2006) – The 13th Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival is delighted to present a sparkling evening of arias and songs in its Opening Gala Concert with Canadian superstar tenor Richard Margison on Saturday, July 22, 8 pm at Dominion-Chalmers United Church, 355 Cooper St. (at O’Connor). This is Mr. Margison’s first Festival appearance.
 
Also performing will be the Mandelring Quartet (in their first Festival appearance) and Canada’s critically-acclaimed trumpeter Jens Lindemann.

One of the most internationally famous singers on the music scene, Richard Margison has performed with the world’s leading orchestras. His discography includes a recording for the film on the life of Mario Lanza, in which he sings the title role, and he is featured on the CBC’s Millennium Opera Gala recording. He was named an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2001.
 
Mr. Margison will be joined by Michael McMahon on the piano and his daughter, Lauren Margison, a budding opera singer.

Trumpeter Jens Lindemann is hailed as one of the most celebrated soloists. He has played in every major concert venue in the world; from New York, Los Angeles, London, Manchester, Munich, Hamburg, Lucerne and Berlin to Tokyo's Suntory Hall and even the Great Wall of China.
