Media Guidelines

The Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival is pleased to have you cover Festival concerts. A concert is a very intimate relationship between the musicians and the audience. Musicians are in deep concentration and movement causes great disruption for everyone. We realize that you are extremely busy and are under great pressure to meet deadlines but these are some handy guidelines we would appreciate that you follow.

1) For interviews please arrive no later than ten minutes before a concert. We always aim to start a concert on time. This is our most hectic time and the closer it gets to the start time the more difficult it is to arrange interviews.

2) If you would like to get viz of the musicians performing it is absolutely essential that you:

  • not block the audience, crouch below them if necessary

  • not use flash and lights: these are not permitted as it disrupts the musicians

  • not move up close to the musicians while they are performing

  • not move around during performances: This is not only disruptive to the musicians and audience but many of our concerts are being recorded live for future broadcast.

  • use a silent camera (clicking is not permitted during a performance)

  • only move around between complete pieces when the audience applauds (not between movements)

Thank-you very much for your cooperation
