BiographiesThomas Annand is Director of Music at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Ottawa, organist and harpsichordist for the National Arts Centre Orchestra and Thirteen Strings, and co-founder and conductor of Capital BrassWorks. A Fellow of the Canadian College of Organists, he has been featured at the International Congress of Organists, Carmel Bach Festival and Boston Early Music Festival. Julian Armour, founder of the Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival, is Artistic Director of the Ottawa Chamber Music Society, President of the Ottawa Festival Network, and principal cello of Thirteen Strings. His distinguished awards include the Meritorious Service Medal of Canada and being named Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by France. Murielle Bruneau is a member of the National Arts Centre Orchestra and has performed as solo bass with the Orchestra on many occasions. She has appeared at festivals in Europe and North America and was solo bass of La Pietà in Montreal. She plays her 350 year-old double bass with the Chamber Players of Canada on acclaimed recordings. Camille Churchfield, after 29 years as principal flute of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, now teaches at the University of Ottawa and often plays with the National Arts Centre Orchestra. She has performed as soloist with the Vancouver Symphony and other Canadian orchestras, as chamber musician with many ensembles and at festivals, and is often heard on CBC Radio. Jonathan Crow, until 2006 concertmaster of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, is currently Assistant Professor of Violin at McGill University. He has played at chamber music festivals throughout the Americas and Europe and collaborated with eminent artists. He has premiered works by major contemporary composers and recently recorded Eldon Rathburn Works with the Chamber Players of Canada. Karen Donnelly is principal trumpet of the National Arts Centre Orchestra. As chamber musician, she performs regularly at the Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival and is often heard on CBC Radio and Radio-Canada. She participates in Rideau Lakes Brass Quintet educational concerts and workshops and in the Capital BrassWorks concert series. She also teaches at the University of Ottawa. Joanna G'froerer, principal flute of the National Arts Centre Orchestra, frequently performs as soloist with the Orchestra and Thirteen Strings. As chamber musician, she has participated in Canadian festivals and been guest artist with distinguished ensembles. Her recordings include a prize-winning CD of Mozart's flute quartets. She also teaches at the University of Ottawa. Charles Hamann, principal oboe of the National Arts Centre Orchestra, performs regularly as soloist with the Orchestra and other ensembles. He is also an active chamber musician, teacher and adjudicator in Ottawa and across North America. He has participated in major festivals in Canada and the United States, including the Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival. Lucile Brais Hildesheim performs on both classical and Celtic harps. Solo, chamber and concerto performances have taken her across Canada, to Rideau Hall, Brussels, Geneva, Texas, and the Lanaudières and Domaine Forget summer festivals. She has recorded with several choirs and produced a solo harp album. She teaches at the University of Ottawa. Jill Kirwan, a member of the National Arts Centre Orchestra, is principal horn of the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra and a member of the Rideau Lakes Brass Quintet, Capital BrassWorks and Ayorama Wind Quintet. An enthusiastic teacher, she performs with Rideau Lakes and Ayorama quintets about a dozen concerts annually in Ottawa-Gatineau region schools. Guylaine Lemaire, violist, chamber musician and orchestral player has performed at many major Canadian festivals and across Canada and around the world with the National Arts Centre Orchestra, Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal and Thirteen Strings. She is heard regularly on CBC Radio and Radio-Canada, and has made six acclaimed recordings with the Chamber Players of Canada. Manuela Milani, formerly with the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, is a member of the National Arts Centre Orchestra's first violin section and concertmaster of Thirteen Strings. She has performed at major Canadian festivals and is heard regularly on CBC Radio and Radio- Canada. She plays second violin with the Chamber Players of Canada on several acclaimed recordings. Christopher Millard, principal bassoon of the National Arts Centre Orchestra, has been a regular guest artist and teacher at major festivals in Canada and the United States. He has performed in concert with leading ensembles and is heard on acclaimed recordings. He teaches at the University of Ottawa and is also host of the National Arts Centre's podcast, NacoCast. Wanda Procyshyn is a versatile soprano, admired for her interpretive and lyric gifts and outstanding ensemble work. She has appeared at major Canadian festivals and her performances have been broadcast on CBC Radio and Radio-Canada. She has collaborated with noted period ensembles such as Les Violons du Roy. A dedicated singing teacher, she has also given chorister workshops. The Rideau Lakes Brass Quintet, formed in 1987 by musicians associated with the National Arts Centre Orchestra, is composed of Karen Donnelly, John Ellis - trumpets, Jill Kirwan - horn, Donald Renshaw - trombone, and Nicholas Atkinson - tuba. The Quintet has been featured in NAC Orchestra concert series, performs in the Music in the Schools programme, is often heard on CBC Radio and Radio-Canada, and has played at every Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival. Kimball Sykes, principal clarinet of the National Arts Centre Orchestra, frequently performs as soloist with the Orchestra and other ensembles. He is also an active chamber musician and teaches at the University of Ottawa. He is often heard on CBC Radio and has made acclaimed recordings with the Chamber Players of Canada and members of the NAC Orchestra. Nicolas Tremblay, clarinetist, studied at McGill University with Emilio Lacurto and at Sherbrooke University with André Moisan, and obtained his Master's degree at Indiana University where he studied with James Campbell. A founding member of the Fusions and Prism ensembles, he now performs in the National Capital region and teaches at the University of Ottawa and Carleton University. Andrew Tunis, Professor of Piano at the University of Ottawa, has given concerts across North America, in Europe, the Caribbean, Middle East and Asia. He has appeared as guest soloist with major Canadian orchestras and collaborated with many eminent musicians and ensembles such as the Philharmonia Quartet of Berlin and St. Lawrence String Quartet. Lawrence Vine, principal horn of the National Arts Centre Orchestra, has performed as soloist with the Orchestra and orchestras across Canada. As chamber musician, he has collaborated with noted artists and participated in major North American festivals. He is often heard on CBC Radio and has made several recordings.
