Usher

  • Greets patrons, artists’ guests, sponsors and VIPs
  • Checks tickets/passes
  • Assists with seating
  • Ensures aisles are unobstructed
  • Provides direction to patrons lining up for concerts
  • Answers inquiries
  • Assists individuals with disabilities into the venue
  • Helps with post-concert clean up
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication in English; bilingualism is an asset
  • Must be able to stand, off and on, for 2-3 hours
  • Reports to Front of House Manager and/or designated Supervisor

Box Office (Will Call)

  • Assists in setting up the Ticket Sales table inside the venue entrance
  • Distributes “Will Call” tickets (tickets that are picked up at the door)
  • Issues 3 Day passes to patrons in exchange for the relevant vouchers
  • Assists Box Office staff member(s) with processing ticket sales prior to a concert, if required
  • Provides direction to patrons lining up for concerts
  • Provides Chamberfest and concert specific information to patrons and guests
  • Must be able to do light lifting and stand for short periods of time
  • Must be able to work at a fast pace for a short period of time
  • Previous Box Office experience an asset but not required
  • Bilingualism is an asset at all venues
  • Reports to Front of House Manager

Production Crew

  • Sets up and dismantles stage elements prior to and after the concert
  • Contributes to the efficient movement and placement of chairs, music stands and other stage equipment at the various concert venues
  • Assists with all venue logistics and pageantry
  • Carries out set changes
  • Loads and unloads trucks and vans, as required

Skills and tools required

  • Must be a team player and be able to follow complex, detailed instructions
  • Must be in good health and willing and able to perform physical tasks including moving equipment and loading and unloading of trucks, and heavy lifting, if required
  • Accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to attend dress rehearsals and set-up for them in order to become familiar with the duties related to the concert/event
  • Previous stage experience an asset
  • Approved safety footwear is required for this position. However, we recognize that many volunteers will not possess the regulation footwear. Thick closed athletic shoes or hiking boots are also acceptable
  • Please note that these are non-standard shift lengths, depending on the needs of a particular concert/event. Due to the nature of this role, the minimum time commitment for the summer festival is 4 shifts.

Publicity and Marketing Materials Distributor

  • Distributes marketing materials to targeted businesses, shopping malls, places of worship, community centres and other outlets, as required within an allocated local area
  • Ensures all sites are fully stocked with up-to-date materials and are well presented
  • Involves manual handling and the delivery of posters/bulky items of print and publicity materials
  • Reliability, friendliness, and persuasiveness are important character traits in this role
  • Experience, tact, and skill in dealing with the public is essential
  • Reports to Volunteer Manager or their designate

Mobility Assistant

  • During a Chamberfest concert/event, the volunteer will be paired with patron(s) travelling alone by Para Transpo and requiring assistance during a designated concert/event
  • The volunteer will be responsible to provide extra support to the assigned patron(s) throughout the concert/event, up until the arrival of Para Transpo following the end of a concert/event
  • The volunteer will be advised at the Front of House meeting, prior to the concert, of the name(s) of the patron(s) requiring assistance. When applicable, the volunteer will be required to meet the patron at the Para Transpo drop-off location at the designated venue
  • Reports to Front of House Manager and/or designated Supervisor
  • Note: Para Transpo customers are helped in and out of their vehicles by the drivers.

Community Engagement and Education (CEE) Volunteer

  • Be the face of Chamberfest at our engaging community shows
  • Work at outdoor concerts in markets around the city
  • Interact with the public in a friendly and outgoing manner
  • Carry and set up flags
  • Hand out promotional material
  • Reports to Production Manager
