Emily Brownlee
oboe
Emily Brownlee has been enthusiastically studying the oboe for 11 years. They completed a bachelor’s degree in oboe performance under Graham Mackenzie in 2020 and a master’s degree in oboe performance under Charles Hamann in 2023. They have performed professionally with ensembles such as the National Arts Centre Orchestra, the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra, the Niagara Symphony Orchestra, and the Guelph Symphony Orchestra. This summer, Emily is a participant in the National Academy Orchestra training program and in the past has participated in the National Youth Orchestra, the PRISMA Festival, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra Institute, and the Domaine Forget summer festival. They are passionate about popularizing the music of historically underrepresented composers in solo oboe repertoire and chamber music. In addition to music, Emily also loves board games and creative writing!
