Emmanuel Vukovich

Known for his “untiring and unstinting attention to every detail of phrasing … the very acme of Bach playing” (Calgary Herald), Emmanuel Vukovich is emerging internationally as a violinist of technical virtuosity, musical integrity, and artistic maturity. He has performed as soloist and chamber musician across North and South America, Europe, and Australia.

Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Vukovich studied with Masao Kawasaki and Dorothy Delay at The Juilliard School Pre-College and College divisions and with Denise Lupien and André Roy at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music where he also pursued studies in Environment at McGill’s School of Environment. Vukovich completed his Master of Music and Graduate Diploma degrees with Donald Weilerstein, Lucy Chapman, and Soovin Kim, at the New England Conservatory of Music, and is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree working with Philip Setzer, Eugene Drucker, Hagai Shaham, and Colin Carr at Stony Brook University where he will graduate in December, 2021. Emmanuel is currently a participant of the Global Leadership Program 2022 cohort.

In February, 2022 Emmanuel will record “Resilience” with pianist Katherine Dowling produced by Tonmeister Martha de Francisco, Leaf Music and Latitude 45. Upcoming projects include the creation of “Earth Canticles – Concerto for Violin & Orchestra ” by Sheila Silver, and the co-creation of “Parzival & Feirefiz – A New Narrative” produced by The Parcival Project.

As a three-time recipient of The Canada Council for the Arts Musical Instrument Bank, Vukovich currently plays on a 1753 Johannes Baptiste Guadagnini and a Mira Gruszow Gideon Baumblatt violin made in 2018 in Berlin, and bows by Andre Richaume (1935) and Francois Malo (2018).
