Waawaate Fobister

Waawaate Fobister is an actor, dancer, playwright, choreographer, producer, and a Grass Dancer. Waawaate means Northern Lights, and he is a proud Anishinaabe from Grassy Narrows First Nation. He’s a recipient of two Dora awards for Outstanding Performance and New Play for Agokwe, Humber College Outstanding Actor, and Mark S. Bonham Centre award from University of Toronto. Fobister’s work has taken him to many places as an artist, including Japan, UK, and many coasts across Turtle Island. He was also a playwright-in-residence at Native Earth and Magnus Theatre.
