Chamber Chats: At Home, Chez vous with host Eric Friesen
Every other Thursday at 2pm ET on Zoom – FREE
Chamber Chats: At Home, Chez vous, hosted by celebrated broadcaster/writer Eric Friesen, was developed as a way to stay connected during the COVID-19 pandemic. Taking place every other Thursday at 2pm ET, these 45-minute interactive episodes combine conversation with pre-recorded and live performances featuring guest artists and lecturers from all over the world. They provide artists with an opportunity to engage with audiences from the sanctuary of each performer and viewer’s individual homes. They also provide a vital means by which the Chamberfest community can support artists during this extended period of lost performance revenues.

Eric Friesen welcomes oboist Toyin Spellman-Diaz and clarinetist Mark Dover of Imani Winds
On our next Chamber Chat, we’ll give you a preview of a fantastic wind quintet who will be coming to this summer’s Chamberfest. Celebrating 25 years of music making, the Grammy nominated Imani Wind Quintet has led both a revolution and evolution of the wind quintet, through their dynamic playing, adventurous programming, imaginative collaborations and outreach endeavours that have inspired audiences of all ages and backgrounds. They embrace a range of repertoire from traditional wind music to commissioning music from new voices that reflect the times in which we live. Come and meet two members of the Quintet – founding member, oboist Toyin Spellman-Diaz, and a more recent arrival, clarinetist Mark Dover.

The chat … was very interesting and intimate. I have never had a chance to socially interact with musicians of this level and it was special to ask questions and get to know these talented people a little. It gave me a deeper appreciation for their music and influences. Thank you for this and I will definitely participate in more chats, and, encourage my friends and family to do so as well.
