March is almost here, and it’s time to swap hoops for harpsichords, brackets for concertos, and buzzer-beaters for breathtaking piano mastery. Welcome to March Mozart Madness – a celebration of two of the finest Mozart performances Ottawa will see this season, featuring some of Canada’s most extraordinary pianists.
Round One | Angela Hewitt: Mozart Odyssey
Friday March 6 | 19:00 | Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre
Ottawa’s own piano superstar Angela Hewitt returns with the next chapter of her ambitious Mozart Odyssey. Since launching in 2024, this globe-spanning project has taken Hewitt and Mozart’s complete piano concertos to stages in New York, Milan, London, and Brussels – and now, Ottawa gets its next installment.
On this night, the spotlight is on Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 18, a work full of charm, lyricism, and elegance. Hewitt’s profound understanding and dedication to Mozart’s music ensures a performance that is both dazzling and deeply moving.
Round Two | Hamelin & Hamelin: Mozart for Two
Wednesday March 25 | 19:00 | Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre
Two weeks later, Ottawa welcomes back Marc-André Hamelin and Charles Richard-Hamelin for an all-Mozart evening that promises fireworks on every key.
