On Sunday, March 15, Beechwood Sacred Space was filled not only with music, but with laughter and movement as Quatuor Despax joined Chamberfest for a joyful Adaptive Concert.

A cornerstone of Chamberfest’s Community Engagement and Education programming, Adaptive Concerts are inclusive, sensory-friendly experiences where listeners are invited to move, respond, and engage with music in ways that feel comfortable.

These free performances are presented in collaboration with our wonderful partners at the Lotus Centre for Special Music Education. They are generously hosted by Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, providing a relaxed and welcoming environment.

For this special afternoon, Quatuor Despax brought warmth, creativity, and plenty of fun to an energized and full house. A program full of chamber classics and playful renditions of pop songs from Coldplay, Adele, and Taylor Swift was punctuated by interactive moments of guided movement.

The family ensemble, made up of siblings Cendrine and Jean on violin, Maxime on viola, and Valérie on cello, are longtime fixtures on stages throughout the National Capital Region and beyond. The talented Despax siblings have been performing together for over 20 years. Music has always brought the family together. Their father was a guitarist, composer, and choir director and their mother a pianist and music educator. Growing up, the Despax home was constantly filled with the sound of rehearsals, lessons, and music-making.

Their love of music and eclectic style shone through in an Adaptive Concert that offered more than a performance – it invited audiences of all abilities to enjoy and participate in music in authentic ways.

Please do join us for more of our Adaptive Concerts that will be taking place during Chamberfest 2026 this summer!
