Ladom Ensemble

Ladom Ensemble returns to Chamberfest with their unique blend of chamber music and inspiration from around the world – from Iran and Serbia to Argentina. Piano, cello, accordion, and percussion… expect passion, sophistication, and high intensity.

Ladom Ensemble will be presented by livestream and is part of your Festival Livestream Pass. Single tickets for livestream and limited in-person opportunities will be available in July. There will be no encore matinée of this concert, but stay tuned for details about Ladom Ensemble’s performance at Beechwood later in the festival.

This performance is outdoors: seating will be limited, and you may need to bring your own weather protection if desired.

Festival 2021

Bytek Signature Series
Collaborative and creative, five sumptuous programs spotlighting evocative vocals, exhilarating strings, big band, and more. The Bytek Signature Series at Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre is generously sponsored by Bytek Automobiles.

Marina Kun Series

This year’s series celebrates Canada’s world-class standard in chamber performance, featuring core string ensembles, duo piano, and opera amidst folk and jazz influences. Thanks to the generosity of Marina Kun (of Ottawa-based and internationally-loved Kun Shoulder Rests), these concerts take place at Carleton Dominion Chalmers Centre.

The Marina Kun Series will be presented by livestream and is part of your Festival Livestream Pass. Single tickets for livestream and limited in-person opportunities (as allowed by local COVID-19 regulations) will be available in July.

Chamber Chats: Festival Edition

Hosted by broadcaster Eric Friesen, Chamber Chats: Festival Edition features interactive interviews over Zoom. Fourteen-day passholders can join in for chats on music and more with Chamberfest artists from around the world.

Chamber Chats: Festival Edition is digital-only content and exclusive to your Festival Livestream Pass. Tune in live over Zoom, or replay in the livestream library until August 6.

Live From… Series

Fourteen-day Chamberfest 2021 passholders can exclusively enjoy musical experiences – from full-length concerts to bite-sized adventures – featuring Chamberfriends in Berlin, Paris, New York City, and North Macedonia. Including Hinrich Alpers, Quatuor Danel, Rob Kapilow, Lara St. John, and Simon Trpčeski.

The Live From… series is digital-only content, part of your Festival Livestream Pass and available in the Livestream Library until August 6. Single ticket access to Hinrich Alpers Live from Hanover and Quatuor Danel Live from Antwerp will be available in July, with the generous support of the Embassy of Germany and the Embassy of France. All digital content from Simon Trpčeski, Rob Kapilow, and Lara St. John is exclusive for Festival Livestream Passholders.

Beechwood Series

Concerts and excursions are immersed in Beechwood’s history and beauty, from its beloved sanctuary to the expansive grounds.

Performances at Beechwood are a combination of livestream shows (part of your Festival Livestream Pass), in-person only concerts, and immersive musical experiences on Beechwood’s grounds. Single tickets for livestream and limited in-person opportunities (as allowed by local COVID-19 regulations) will be available in July.

Many of these performances are outdoors. You may need to bring your own seating and weather protection if desired.

The Beechwood Series is made possible with the generous support of Beechwood Cemetery.

Chamberfringe Series

Late-night concerts cross genres and art forms, pushing the boundaries of chamber music into Afro-Cuban influences, seaside folk and bluegrass, game shows, and more.

Chamberfringe will be presented by livestream and is part of your Festival Livestream Pass. Single tickets for livestream and limited in-person opportunities will be available in July.

These performances are outdoors. Seating will be limited, and you may need to bring your own weather protection if desired.  To allow in-person attendees to physically distance, Chamberfringe artists will perform a second time at various locations around the city.

Bring the Kids
Chamberfest’s visiting artists give fun, family-friendly, and interactive performances that teach young people about music-making in small ensembles. Kids can experience and explore the storied world of chamber music at our summer music festival. Free admission. These performances usually take place at Ottawa City Hall and are intended for kids (and guardians!) of all ages.
Steinway Series
Celebrate the piano, both in recital and unique duet, at the home of our longtime partners, Steinway Piano Gallery Ottawa. The Steinway Series is made possible with the generous support of Marg Campbell and the Steinway Piano Gallery Ottawa.

Concerts at Steinway will be presented as pre-recorded digital concerts included in your Festival Livestream Pass. Single tickets for livestream and limited in-person opportunities will be available in July.

In-person performances are outdoors in the Steinway Piano Gallery Ottawa parking lot: seating will be limited, and you may need to bring your own weather protection if desired.

Outdoor Concerts

Get out into the open air with various festival performers for al fresco concerts in downtown Ottawa.

These performances are outdoors. Seating will be limited, and you may need to bring your own weather protection if desired. 

The Record Centre Series

Eclectic programming resonates against a backdrop of vinyl, vintage speakers, and reel-to-reel at legendary music destination and beloved Wellington staple, The Record Centre. Here, artists are at play: exploring and expanding their creativity in this casual space.

Shows at The Record Centre will be presented by livestream and are part of your Festival Livestream Pass. Single livestream tickets will be available in July. If local COVID-19 regulations allow, there may be very limited in-person opportunities.

Seating will not be available.

Livestream Content

This summer, our hybrid festival features a rich offering of online content, including 25+ concerts from venues across Ottawa, as well as special events exclusive to the Festival Livestream Pass like Chamber Chats: Festival Edition and the international Live From… series. With the majority of events available online, you can experience Chamberfest 2021 from your own home, and replay at your leisure until August 6.

CEE: Community Engagement and Education
Chamberfest’s Community Engagement and Education pillar (CEE) engages community members of all ages through a diverse range of meaningful music experiences. Whether on stage, online, or on the streets, CEE changes lives through music.

New Music Now

Explore the sonic range of today’s most creative musical minds at Chamberfest’s annual New Music Now miniseries, generously supported by Ralph and Eileen Overend. New Music Now is a celebration of the breadth and vitality of today’s new classical culture.
