Record Centre: Cris Derksen’s “The Visit” Listening Session
Set against a backdrop of vinyl, vintage speakers, and reel-to-reel charm, this beloved Wellington Street staple is the perfect setting to gather, listen, and remember. Join us at The Record Centre for a free listening session featuring Cris Derksen’s newest album, The Visit, released in November 2025.
Cris Derksen (1981–2026) was a cellist, composer, storyteller, and creative force, braiding classical music, Indigenous identity, electronics, improvisation, and an unmistakable voice into music that defied easy categories. There is a raw, unfettered beauty to The Visit; it is passionate and unrestrained, moving through strange lanes and brilliant corners with the force of an artist fully true to themselves.
For Chamberfest, this listening party is also a way of honouring a beloved member of our musical family. Cris returned to our stages many times over the years with new collaborators, new ideas, inviting us to listen in new ways. Sit back, take in The Visit in its entirety, and spend time with the work of an artist whose creative force will not be quelled.
