On this International Volunteer Day (Friday December 5), we’re thrilled to shine a spotlight on the incredible community of volunteers who help make Chamberfest possible. Every season – from our summer festival to our year-round Concert Series and Community Engagement programs – volunteers play a vital role in bringing world-class music to Ottawa.
Chamberfest volunteers contribute so much more than their time. They bring expertise, warmth, passion for music, and a genuine care for our audiences and artists. Whether greeting concertgoers, supporting accessibility needs, assisting with production, distributing promotional materials, fundraising, or serving as Chamberfest Ambassadors, our volunteers are essential to the smooth, joyful experience our audiences have come to love.
This year, we’re especially excited to share a new video featuring some of the wonderful people who give so much to our organization: Annie, Brooke, Michelle, Krista, Mary Frances, and Margot. Their reflections capture what makes the Chamberfest volunteer experience meaningful, memorable, and uniquely community-focused.
As Margot shares, “Every concert I enjoy seeing the happy faces of patrons as they leave at the end.” That connection – volunteers creating a warm, welcoming space where music can bring people together – is at the heart of what we do.
Krista captures the privilege of being part of so much live artistry: “We are so fortunate for these live events and spaces – I am so spoiled for live music as a volunteer.”
And as Brooke puts it, “Being a volunteer for a world-class, intimate festival is an unparalleled experience.” We couldn’t agree more.
If you’ve ever considered volunteering, we’d love to welcome you to the team! We offer roles for students (16+) and adults, and there’s truly a place for everyone. Whatever your skills or interests – front-of-house, accessibility support, production assistance, admin, outreach, or festival operations – your contribution can make a meaningful difference.
