Amelia Keenan
mezzo-soprano
Fresh from her doctorate, Montréal based mezzo-soprano, Amelia Keenan, is jumping full speed into performing. Seen on stage in lead roles such as Bizet’s, Djamileh, Dorabella in Così fan tutte, Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, L’enfant in L’enfant et les sortilèges, Ravel’s Shéhérazade, Dido in Dido and Aeneas, and Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro during the length of her studies. Amelia often performs in recitals and is participating as a finalist in the Orford Music Prize 2024. In this context, she will be presenting a hybrid cabaret récital of French mélodies and chansons françaises to engage modern-day audiences in an unexpected way, to break through classical performance expectations. An avid interpreter and specialist of French repertoire, most especially mélodies, Amelia completed a Certificat Spécialisé d’Art Vocal Français with François Le Roux at the École Normale de Musique in Paris. Amelia has engagements with the Festival Classica as a soloist for their concert Amoureuses de Mozart, and the Orchestre de Trois Rivières during the Christmas season. Amelia Keenan completed her doctorate this past January 2024 at the University of Montréal under the direction of Rosemarie Landry, Catherine Sévigny, and Nathalie Paulin.
