Two Pianos, Two “Hams”: Marc-André Hamelin & Charles Richard-Hamelin
Canadian piano legends Marc-André Hamelin and Charles Richard-Hamelin — no relation — team up for what is sure to be an historic Chamberfest performance! For the first time at Chamberfest, the “Two Hams” join forces to deliver a program of Mozart, Chopin, C.P.E. Bach, Medtner, Chaminade, and Gershwin. Both internationally revered, pre-eminent pianist “of near-superhuman technical prowess” Marc-André Hamelin regularly sells out concert halls around the world, while Quebec’s Charles Richard-Hamelin is widely recognized as one of the most important piano players of his generation. Besides their impeccable technique, both are celebrated for their sensitive and thoughtful interpretations, moving through the classical repertoire to contemporary pieces with seamless ease.
