Meghan Lindsay & Carson Becke
It is with pleasure that Chamberfest presents local favourites Meghan Lindsay and Carson Becke. This art song duo formed in the Gatineau Hills during the pandemic, where they discovered common ground “…in a style of music making that is creative and truly collaborative.“
Praised internationally for her outstanding delivery of operatic repertoire, Canadian soprano Meghan Lindsay continues a diverse practice as a performer, creator, and researcher, while Carson Becke’s interest in bringing to light music from the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries that has “escaped twenty-first century attention” is reflected in their programme, highlighting composers Fernando Obrador, Alexander von Zemlinsky, and Rebecca Clarke. Lindsay and Becke will also be performing Becke’s 2023 piano transcription of Richard Strauss’s Four Last Songs. Written in 1948 – only months before Strauss’s death – the sublime music and text explores the relationship between humankind’s mortality and the eternal cycles of nature. With a voice described by OPERA NEWS as a “bright, limpid instrument [with] luscious timbre and superb technique,” this duo is sure to shine.
Look out for Becke’s sustainably-minded Pontiac Enchanté concert series in Luskville, Quebec, and the newly minted Hills Winter Music Festival (formed in partnership with Lindsay and clarinetist Juan Gabriel Olivares), bringing world-class chamber music to venues in the Outaouais region.

This series celebrates Canada’s world-class standard in chamber performance, featuring core string ensembles, solo piano, brass and vocal ensembles, and more! Taking place at Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre, these concerts are generously supported by Marina Kun (of Ottawa-based and internationally loved Kun Shoulder Rests).
Our Chamber Chats: Festival Edition features interactive interviews with festival musicians both online and in person.
Our late-night Chamberfringe concerts cross genres and art forms, pushing the boundaries of chamber music with daring and electric performances. Offering everything from lively Arabic jazz to Middle Eastern-Metal fusion, Indigenous beats, and ambient chamber-electronica to Yiddish folk song, or a full-on Ukrainian-Celtic-Arab mashup, there’s always something fresh to check out!
Our Chamberfringe shows take place at La Nouvelle Scène, Club SAW, and The Gladstone Theatre, providing a more casual setting where audiences can enjoy beverages and immerse themselves in the buzzing late-night atmosphere.
Fourteen-day Chamberfest 2021 passholders can exclusively enjoy musical experiences – from full-length concerts to bite-sized adventures – featuring Chamberfriends in Berlin, Paris, New York City, and North Macedonia. Including Hinrich Alpers, Quatuor Danel, Rob Kapilow, Lara St. John, and Simon Trpčeski.
The Live From… series is digital-only content, part of your Festival Livestream Pass and available in the Livestream Library until August 6.
